What drives the cost of a Geo-Cleanse treatment?

The cost of a Geo-Cleanse Treatment is driven by three factors:

1) The size of the area to be treated;
2) The amount of contamination present;
3) The lithology within the treatment area;

The size of the area to be treated is usually determined by the client along with recommendations from GCI.

The estimate of contaminant mass is based upon information provided by the consultant, and includes soil, dissolved phase and free phase loading, in addition to the geological and chemical properties of the contaminated aquifer and soils. Once the mass of the contaminants is estimated, a stoichiometric calculation determines the amount of oxidant needed to oxidize the contaminant.

The injection rate is determined in the field based on site specific factors including hydrogeological conditions, depth of the injector, and contaminant mass within the injector’s radius of influence. Each site and each injector may have a different injection rate. Typical delivery rates are 0.2 to 5.0 gallons per minute with pressures averaging between 15 to 60 pounds per square inch. Tight soil, deep injection and high contamination levels elevate the injection pressures. Injection pressures must exceed the static head of the formation to more widely disperse the reagents in the subsurface.
